Galatians 6:9(King James Version)

9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.

You can climb the mountain, reach a plateau, and never go any higher.  We all set goals in our lives as to where we want to go and where we want to be in the future. When we start a new endeavor, we make progress and reach a certain level.  We can see the success and the change.  But we have not arrived at our goal.

Weight watchers know this when they are trying to reach a certain weight.  They change their diet and habits, start eating right, and in the first few days, they may see some results.  But then there are times when changes have been made, and it may seem that, over weeks and months, nothing more is happening.  Athletes and musicians experience the same thing.  They practice and get better; they work out very hard and see some results.  But there are times when they don’t see the improvements.  They don’t seem to be getting any better.

It is during the times when we have made the changes, are working hard, and don’t see the results.  This is often called a plateau.  The worst thing anyone can do during a plateau is to give up and quit.  But I would dare say that the majority of people miss their goal because they don’t see past the plateau.

What do we do during the plateau time?  We have to remember the seed time and harvest principle. God said as long as the earth remained, we will have seed time and harvest.  Your working to reach a goal is seed time.  If you continue, you will reach the harvest.   It also said in Galatians 6:9 And let us not be weary in well doing: for in due season we shall reap, if we faint not.  The victory and the results may be just around the corner, but if we are to see them, we can’t quit.

What to do when you reach a plateau:

1.     Focus on your goal

2.     Increase your program

3.     See yourself with the victory

4.     Praise and thank God for the progress you have made

5.     Don’t quit, don’t get discouraged.

6.     Think about your harvest

You will reach your goal and have the greatest testimony ever when you get past your plateau and move to a higher level.  We should strive to get better in everything that we do in life.   We can all improve in God and with God in our lives.

Have a great day in the Lord.
